While understanding the working of Yoga upon body fitness, the following question was raised by a TTC student, during the daily interchange of ideas:

Stiffness due to Parkinsons

Diana: How is it that stiffness develops during Parkinsons?
The Yoga Anatomy teacher responded that the over usage of neurons degenerates the basal ganglia which in turn causes a disturbance to the Dopamine levels. So, the imbalance of the two control systems – the nervous & the endocrine systems – disturbs the coordination of muscles.

This leads to issues such as a stiff body, short step walk etc.. It also leads to tremors at the extremities of the body (hands/ fingers)

Correlation of Yoga practices to help in Parkinsons is an important subject for yoga therapists. If you feel you have a perspective that you would like to share regarding the above question or something that may help the questioner further, please share by commenting through the box below.

The following question was raised by a student of the Ajarya Yoga TTC program, during a discussion on the larger meaning of Yoga:

Georgina: How can one live without being overwhelmed by the senses and their emotional functions – such as, anxiety during examinations or while caring for someone?

YTTC Student Question

The teacher responded that it is the branch of Karma Yoga that answers such questions. Karma Yoga, which teaches the skill and art of seeing work as a duty without getting ´attached´ to the work emotionally is the way forward.

It is because of this that the TTC program included components of Karma Yoga for the student to witness and understand this new ´way´ of daily action.

Course Progress and Highlights!!

The September batch is proceeding well and the students have taken to the program like fish to water.

A small batch of lovely people from across the world has helped in creating an informal family setting where students are bonding well and are able to share freely with the teachers and within themselves. This is making the entire TTC program extremely enjoyable and satisfying.

Follow the progress of this wonderful lot through pictures. It is said pictures speak more than a thousand words, and this is exactly how we intend it to be.

September 2015 – YTT Course Progress and Highlights

This section serves as a window to specific program batches at Ajarya; a course progress diary as well as a notice board for announcements etc. related to particular batches of the Yoga Courses including the Yoga Teacher Training Programs being held at Ajarya Yoga Academy.

It will include specific course and batch related information – issues for the benefits of students such as Pre Arrival information, Travel advisories and issues that may need interaction between students of a batch.

It is also a chance for students of a particular batch to get to familiarize with each other even before arrival. Such interactions help in smooth integration into the course, which is extremely helpful considering the cultural and environmental differences that understandably makes one uneasy and nervous.

This single initiative of Ajarya has been greatly welcomed by students and highlights the commitment of Ajarya to integrate its students as part of the large Ajarya family.

Joining Students are encouraged to post in their respective batch page to have their queries sorted by fellow students.

This category is also an attempt to give a peep into the Teacher Training Programs at Ajarya. We will also try to highlight the course progress in pictures whenever possible and much more.

Practicing yoga and teaching yoga are quite different. Good yoga practitioners often experience challenges in making the transition to successful teaching.

This category is exclusively devoted to Ajarya Students. By contributing in this category, Ajarya Students – past and present – including Teacher Training Program students are encouraged to :

  • Highlight your progress – Share your experience of holding a yoga class OR even your class settings through photos; your every little achievement, to motivate yourself as well as your fellow Ajarya teachers
  • Build a Support Group – Provide and receive support within the Ajarya fraternity to help yourself & fellow students make the transition into confident teachers. Share and receive guidance on setting up and marketing your yoga practice and studio. Do this by simple sharing of thoughts, tips, achievements, difficulties, frustrations, motivations.
  • Build a strong Alumni Build the strength of the Academy that you passed out from. Create a fraternity among Ajarya Students to bond together, exchange plans and form alliances, share job opportunities etc. In other words, build a strong alumni.

Ajarya Students cut across nationalities and come from all over the world to learn together.

It is a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that brings so many people from so many different cultures to live together for several days through a training program.

The aim of this section is to build on and nurture the relationships that have been formed, through the common thread which is Yoga.

Please take an effort to build on this glue by sharing your growth in Yoga from time to time.

Simply sign in, and start commenting, bonding and sharing your yoga experiences.

This is an extremely interesting addition to our blog. Through this Question & Answer category, we will be posting questions on Yoga, Spirituality etc. raised by our growing community of students and contributors.

- Students of the Ajarya Training programs, and their deeper queries related to yoga and Yoga techniques

- Contributors who may like to post questions that trouble them or for which they seek experiential answers

These questions are open to all, and we welcome responses through replies / viewpoints / personal experiences related to those questions.

Please note only those questions are posted that relate to a genuine need for knowledge and experience in the realm of Yoga.

Contributions are encouraged in the form of posts like articles relating to expertise in a specific area, personal experiences that correlate to the subject and of the like.

By contributing you will not only help reach your valuable inputs to interested people from all around the world, but also develop closer bonds and affinity through your sharings.

Regular and popular contributors can expect to be highlighted through the Ajarya Outreach program, which helps in connecting the Yoga and Holistic health community worldwide.
